The One Where Matt Morris Rules

060828.jpgIt didn't take much for me to warm up to Matt Morris when he first joined the Giants. The moment he hit two Colorado batters in a row the day after stupid Jose Mesa had intentionally hit Omar Vizquel, I was in love with him. Despite having a losing record, I still think he's pretty awesome. Maybe it's because I like his wind-up.

But anyhoo. Last Friday's game was so awesome. His pitch count was only a mere 80 in the 8th inning and coming into the 9th, it was kind of a tense moment, as Giants were holding onto a slim 1-run lead. Mark Sweeney was up in the dugout in his batting gear, which implied that he would take Matt Morris' spot in the batting lineup, taking Morris out of the game completely. So Felipe Alou decides that nah, Matt Morris has pitched a gem and decided to keep him in, and what do you know, Morris goes and he delivers an awesome double, which scored 2 insurance runs. This sounds pathetic, but it was kind of like an inspirational moment. And that is why I freakin' hate the American League and their stupid DH. Pitchers in the batter's box make for some inspiration, no?
