The One Where Snow Might Come Back!!!!

Can Niekro do this? I don't think so.

This article made me happy, angry and sad at the same time. Happy at the prospect of a man coming back to San Francisco, a man who loved SF as much as it loved him. Angry because the hillbilly loving, error-making, sorry -excuse-for-a-Snow-replacement champion of striking out might actually heal. Sad because a great man is homesick, while his fans are Snowsick (haha get it).

The Giants remain committed to Lance Niekro as their first baseman and look forward to his return from the disabled list, but they are said to have not ruled out reacquiring J.T. Snow if Niekro is unable to stay healthy.

Many boxes would have to be checked before the Giants seriously considered a run at Snow, whom the Boston Red Sox are attempting to trade because he is languishing on the bench. Issue 1 is Niekro's health. He is on the DL with bursitis in his right shoulder and has a history of shoulder troubles.

However, Niekro is much improved and hoping to play as soon as he is eligible Tuesday. Head trainer Stan Conte confirmed that, saying, "We're shooting for Tuesday. I don't know if we are going to make it."

One roadblock to a Snow return is his contract. History suggests the Giants would not want to pay the remainder of his $2 million salary, particularly if they forecast more pressing needs come the trading deadline. They might be more inclined to consider a trade if Boston ate a big chunk of the money.

Snow played in San Francisco from 1997 to 2005. Before he publicly stated he wanted out of Boston, he phoned at least one friend in the Giants' organization, wondering if they would have him back.

Come back JT!
